Video Serie: Sichern mit Data Protection Manager 2016 – Eine Protection Group erstellen um VMs auf Hyper-V zu sichern.

Frage: “Was kann DPM 2016 Backup?”
Antwort:DPM can backup physical servers as well as virtual machines. A variety of Windows Client OS as well as Windows Server OS. Also Linux OS are supported as running VM on Hyper-V using latest LIS*). Additionally DPM backups also applications on Windows that support VSS**) . The type of backup and how a recovery looks like - depend on the data source that was backed up .

Details was genau steht in der DPM 2016 Protection support matrix – darunter finden sich z.B.:

  • Windows Clients (Vista,7,8,8.1,10)
  • Windows Server (2008 – 2016)
  • Linux as VMs on Hyper-V 2012 R2 through Linux Integration Services (LIS)
  • SQL Server*) (2008 – 2014)
  • Exchange*) (2007-2016)
  • Sharepoint (2007-2013)
  • Hyper-V *) (2008 R2 SP1 – 2016)

  1. Installation Data Protection Manager
  2. Updating & Patching
  3. Adding Volumes (Disks) to the Storage Pool
  4. Installing Protection Agents on Hyper-V hosts using DPM Console
  5. Installing Protection Agents on Hyper-V hosts manually
  6. Installing Protection Agents on Hyper-V hosts using PowerShell Desired State Configuration
  7. >> Create Protection Group <<
  8. Recover a virtual machine
  9. Recover a file (Item Level Recovery)
