Work Folders for iOS – iPad App Release

We are happy to announce that an iPhone app for Work Folders has been released into the Apple AppStore® and is available as a free download.

Continue reading for the iPad app for Work Folders.
Our latest update adds Search and Intune integration to the iPad apps as well.

Work Folders is a Windows Server feature that allows individual employees to access their files securely from inside and outside the corporate environment. This app connects to it and enables file access on an Apple iPad. Work Folders enables this while allowing the organization’s IT department to fully secure that data.

This app for iPad features an intuitive UI, selective sync, end-to-end encryption and in-app file viewing.

Work Folders App on iOS – Features

  • Pin files for offline viewing.

  • Saves iPhone storage space by fully showing all available files but locally storing and keeping in sync only the files you care about.

  • Files are stored encrypted at all times. On the wire and at rest on the device.

  • Access to the app is protected by an app passcode – keeping others out even if the iPhone is left unlocked and unattended.

  • Allows for DIGEST and Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) authentication mechanisms including multi factor authentication.

  • Search for files and folders

  • View your files right inside the app with a built-in viewer for many file types.
  • Open files in other apps that might be specialized to work with a certain file type.
Further integration with Windows Intune allows for a pleasant user experience when a managed app is required to have an App-Pin.
    • IT admins can use Windows Intune to lock down this ability or the use copy/paste outside unmanaged apps.
  • In this case the Work Folders App-Pin experience is substituted with a consistent App-Pin across all managed apps on the device.
  • Remote wipe can now affect the Work Folders file content without having to remove the app itself or even reset the device.
This drastically improves user experience in the event that such a command is issued from the Intune portal for this user/device.
