The BranchCache Hosted Cache Mode Step by Step Guide is Now Available

Hi everybody! Just wanted to let you know that the new “BranchCache Hosted Cache Mode Step by Step” guide is published.

You can get the guide in two formats -- download the Word document from the Microsoft Download Center at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=193487.

Or if you prefer, you can read the content on the Web at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=193488.

As many of you know by now, BranchCache can be deployed in two different modes. In distributed cache mode, client computers in branch offices download from a main office content server, and then serve the content to other client computers in the branch.

With hosted cache mode, client computers download from main office content servers, and then upload the content to a hosted cache server in the branch office. The hosted cache server takes it from there, serving the content to other client computers in the branch.

This test lab is performed using two server computers running Windows Server 2008 R2 and two client computers running Windows 7 Enterprise or Windows 7 Ultimate. You can also deploy this test lab using virtual machines and a virtual network with Hyper-V in Windows Server 2008 R2.

And if you also want to check out the distributed cache mode step by step guide, it's in the download center at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=185325 and on the Web at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=193490.

Thanks, and if you have any feedback on these or other BranchCache documentation, please use the feedback controls on the Web version of the doc. I'd love to hear from you!
