Internet Explorer stops responding, stops working, or restarts

 

SYMPTOM

 

When you use Internet Explorer, it does not work. Internet Explorer may work for a while, but then it may stop; or, Internet Explorer may restart unexpectedly; or, an error message appeared.  

 

CAUSE

 

Internet Explorer problems can be caused by a number of factors.

 

RESOLUTION

 

To fix this issue, follow these steps:

 

Before moving on, please check if there are any programs or updates installed before the issue occurs.

 

You may perform system restore to test this issue.

If the issue persists, please move to the following suggestions:

 

1. Please boot in Safe Mode and Clean Boot to check if the issue still exists.

4. You may try the following steps to reinstall the Internet Explorer to fix the issue:

 

1). Click Start and select Control Panel.

2). Click Programs and Features.

3). Click Turn Windows features on or off on the left hand side.

4). Uncheck Internet Explorer 8.

5). Click Yes and OK to continue.

6). Restart the computer.

 

Internet Explorer 8 would be uninstalled now.

 

Note: If Internet Explorer 8 is already unchecked, follow the steps mentioned below:

 

After restarting, follow these steps:

 

1). Click Start and select Control Panel.

2). Click Programs and Features.

3). Click Turn Windows features on or off on the left hand side.

4). Check Internet Explorer 8.

5). Click Yes and OK to continue.

6). Restart the computer.

 

This would re-install Internet Explorer 8.
