Thursday Council Spotlight - short review on the latest news

Good day and welcome all to "Thursday Council Spotlight"

I had a great day yesterday. After several hours of blocking, finally I found the explanation to a very annoying bug. once I fixed the issue, I published a blog for the sake of the next person that will encounter the same issue. Basically I publish about 1-2 technical posts each moth, but here at the TechNet WIki, we publish a post (almost)every day

Every day for the last several years we publish a new post, which is categorized by the day of the week and the type of the content. You can find the categories: "Friday International Spotlight", "Saturday Top Contributors of the Week", "Sunday Surprise", "Monday Community Interview", "Tuesday Article Spotlight", "Wednesday Wiki Life", and today is I bring you the "Thursday Council Spotlight".

Six of the categories I mentioned above focus on you, on the member's achievement and contribution, but "Thursday Council Spotlight" is a bit different. This is the "TechNet Community Council day", or in other words this is our stage to give some insight about short term projects we are currently working on, Future projects, and long term projects like: processing Feature Requests and choosing Featured Article, dealing with Bugs and spam, expanding the Wiki portals or cross-linking articles, organizing the TechNet Guru contest (which connects the Forums and Wiki), collecting and processing the Wiki Ninja Belt Ranks, Governance and Guidelines, and much more.

So many things have changed during the last several months. Do you want to know what's new, who is new, and what we are planning to do? keep reading, as today I want to give a short review from my point of view.

TechNet Wiki Groups on Facebook

I would like to start with what I see as the biggest announcement for today!!!

Kamlesh Kumar become administrator at the global (English language) TechNet Wiki Group on Facebook!

I am pretty sure that at this time, it is clear to all that the TNWiki groups on Facebook become the main communication channel for the TNWiki community. And Kamlesh Kumar is one of the most active members for a long time. In fact, this is something which should be done several months ago, but better late than never.

Join me to welcome Kamlesh as new admin, and wish him all the best in his new position.

* for more information regarding the administrative team of the TechNet Wiki groups on Facebook you can check this article.

* If you want to join as Moderator, editor and in the future to become Admin at one of the Local groups, please contact me. We always looking for more in order to give more :-)

Where should I start with?!?

The newest news is that we finally added the category ASP.Net as separate category. This is direct result of great team of authors which write high quality articles each month for a long period of time.

This year, Peter Laker replaced the old voting system with a new and advance management system for the TechNet Guru contest and the of the Wiki Ninja Belt Ranks. Most members will never see this contribution, but this is engine behind the scene. WELL DONE Pedro!

TechNet Wiki community Collaborates with other communities

We contacted Microsoft ASP.NET team and require Jeffrey Fritz from Microsoft ASP.NET team to lead the ASP.NET judges team for the new ASP.NET category. I hope that this is the start of a very powerful and useful Collaboration.

TechNet and MSDN forums are very mature communities, but they lacked something. With the guidance and the experience of the TechNet Wiki bloggers, we created the "Forum Ninjas blog" - for the Microsoft TechNet & MSDN forums' community. By the way, We're still recruiting bloggers, so if you are Moderator ate TechNet or MSDN forums, then you are welcome to contact Ed Price or Ronen Ariely.

There is so much more to say about what's new and what we plan for the future, but I think it is a good time to finish my short review, before it become a short book. After all I must leave something for next time.

Join me to welcome the new Admin Kamlesh Kumar, the new judges, the new bloggers, and all the people that work behind the scene.

Ronen Ariely.
