Who are you, where are you, and what do you do? What are your specialty technologies?

Hi, my name is Vivek Jagga (V.J. for short), I was born in a small town called SriGangaNagar, Rajasthan in India. I’m living in Noida, NCR Region, India with my family (Wife - Ritu and two boy children named Savya and Baby of Ritu: Still looking of good name J). I am a SharePoint enthusiast having 9+ years of experience. My specialty lies in designing & building SharePoint solutions. I spend most of the time on my system exploring and learning new things. So, in my free time, I could be easily found working on TechNet Wiki, my Blog Site and Technical forums. I discover solutions to problems using SharePoint, Office 365, Azure and Dynamics CRM. I always share my experience and findings through articles with a view to helping the SharePoint Community find answer to their day-to-day challenges.

What are your big projects right now?

(Note: Write about any certifications you're working on, what they are, what you're learning, any events you're planning, any blogs or books you're working, any client projects you want to talk about, any MS projects, any wiki articles you're planning, etc.)

I’m a Microsoft Certified Professional (70-488 and 70-573) and planning for SharePoint 2016 Certification. To serve MS community, I do have a Technical Blog where I share my knowledge on SharePoint, Office 365 and Azure. Apart from my Technical Blog website, I’m owning LinkedIn Group, Facebook Group and Facebook Page named “SharePoint Excellence”. My dream is to become an MVP of Office Servers and Services.

Now a days, I’m also working on Xemrin to create mobile app to get the latest updates on SharePoint. Once it is completed will share my knowledge on TechNet Wiki.

What is TechNet Wiki for? Who is it for?

According to me, TechNet Wiki (on MSDN) is an ocean of knowledge, which is build and sustained by the selfless acts of its members, who guide and support each other in learning and sharing awareness about the latest happenings in the technology space. During the past 3 years, TechNet Wiki has gained popularity because of the monthly TechNet Guru Awards, which attract more and more new members.

What do you do with TechNet Wiki, and how does that fit into the rest of your job?

I use TechNet WIKI as a collaboration portal to share my experience and knowledge on SharePoint, Office 365 and Azure, in the form of simple and detailed articles.

What is it about TechNet Wiki that interests you?

Microsoft employees, MVP’s and many most active community contributors are sharing their knowledge and experience of their day to day issues with its resolution and suggestions.

As it is a wiki page, anyone can contribute / read articles from TechNet. On the basis of quality of content, panel of judges (MS employee / MVP) reward author as TechNet Guru of the month and a few selected articles are even published on the TechNet Wiki Magazine.

In what other sites and communities do you contribute your technical knowledge?

I feel glad to share my knowledge and experience on my Technical blog, Other MSDN Community, CodePlex,  LinkedIn Group, Facebook Group and Facebook Page (just started on Facebook page).

On what Wiki articles do you spend most of your time?

I spend most of the time on SharePoint Collaboration Portal , Office 365 (SharePoint Online specific).

What are your favorite Wiki articles you’ve contributed?

Almost all my articles are my favorites. But, the one that attracted the attention of many is: Performance issue in newly installed and configured on-premises SP 2013 farm. I spent hours on this article and it appears to have  helped a lot of people out there.

What are your top favorite Wiki articles?

Below are the list of my favorite articles

·         Performance issue in newly installed and configured on-premises SP 2013 farm

·         SharePoint 2013 : Manage SharePoint Search Center in Iframe

·         SharePoint 2013 : Microsoft SkyDrive Pro has stopped working - This article selected for TechNet Wiki Magazine (Flipboard) October 2016 Edition

·         SharePoint: Understanding the _spPageContextInfo object - This article selected for TechNet Wiki Magazine (Flipboard) March 2015 Edition

What are the Wiki articles or areas that need more attention and development?

I feel that few of my articles that need more development these are

·         SharePoint: Understanding the _spPageContextInfo object

·         Weighing your options for SharePoint, Office 365 or a Hybrid Deployment?

What could we do differently on TechNet Wiki?

Satya Nadella says that Mobile - First, Cloud – First. So it is good to create a mobile application for TechNet wiki so that professionals can read / write articles on their mobile devices.

Who has impressed you in the Wiki community, and why?

I’m impressed with all new authors to TechNet Wiki, who has spare some time to write their article on TechNet Wiki. It gives me immense pleasure to see more and more contribution happening on community.

I regularly follow articles written by Daniel Christian, Inderjeet Singh Jaggi and Geetanjali Arora. Other than SharePoint guys, I'm impressed with Sandro Pereira, Ed Price and Peter Geelen.

Sharing your thoughts about a particular subject matter and listening to that of others is a great way to spend Quality Time together.

What does success look like for TechNet Wiki?

According to me, we have just 10% of the Technical community on TechNet wiki. The day we manage to get over 50% of the people on TechNet, I would call it a success.

Do you have any comments for product groups about TechNet Wiki?

At present, TechNet Wiki is accessible only by web browsers. We must make it available on mobile devices and in this way, we can increase the number of professionals using it.

Do you have any tips for new Wiki authors?

Sharing knowledge with another is an intimate act that should not be indulged in lightly. So, my tip to Wiki authors is “Just go out there and share your thoughts, perfection will come later.”
