Wiki Life: Three things to do after you win a Guru medal

TechNet Guru AwardsWhen you write a great article for the TechNet Wiki, you probably want to enter it into the TechNet Guru Awards contest for the current month. However, have you ever given any thought to what you should do with your articles once you win a medal? This article will show you the three things I do after I win a medal.

1. Add Tags To The Article

You spent time writing your article so you want people who read it to know it's an award winner. The easiest way to do that is to add the pertinent tags to your article. Here are the tags I add when I win a medal:

For an example of these tags on one of my award-winning articles, see this post: Availability Testing With Microsoft Application Insights.

2. Add Article To List of Winning Posts

The next thing I do is place my article under the correct category on one of the following lists of medal-winning posts:

3. Update The List of Most Frequent Award Winners

The last thing to do is update my totals under Gold Medal Winners (if I am fortunate enough to win a Gold Medal) and Total Medal Winners. The Most Frequent Award Winners page lists everyone who has won a medal in the TechNet Guru Awards.

I hope you will consider updating your articles and these pages the next time you win a Guru Award. It makes the TechNet Wiki stronger when we categorize our articles and pages.
