Let's get to the interview!
1. Who are you, where are you, and what do you do? What are your specialty technologies?
I'm Mohammad Nizamuddin; you can call me Nizam (that’s what my friends call me). I started my career with Assembly language programming and one day I jumped into C# programming, as this was a need when I realized I should pick up a more stable programming language if I have to write code for solving business problems. I chose C#, which has always been my favorite.
I live in Mumbai, India. I recently bought my new home, and I love to spend time with my family.
I have worked on ASP.NET, MVC, SQL Server, BizTalk, BizTalk RFID, Microsoft Dynamics GP, CRM, MOSS, and SharePoint 2010/2013, all with my favorite programming language C# to customize, integrate, etc.
Currently I am working on the SharePoint platform; I am always a developer by choice, a tech lead by need, a delivery manager by my job, an architect by interest, and all are my passion... I enjoy creating collaborative business solutions with SharePoint 2010/2013!
2. What are your big projects right now?
I have always had a product mindset when developing any application. I have developed several products on ASP.NET/SQL Server in the past. However, very recent now, we have developed a very Dynamic Intranet on SharePoint for our Organization; the intranet in itself has become an Intranet product that can be leveraged to set up an Intranet portal for any other region or department of organization, just by hosting it on a different web application or site collection with various unique options built within it. Apart from the Intranet project, I deliver and continue delivering several business-application development projects on the SharePoint 2010/2013 platform, with the best patterns and practices of SharePoint always on the top of my mind.
3. What is TechNet Wiki for? Who is it for?
TechNet is a community knowledge base that is built with huge contributions from developers, IT pros, architects, and technology specialists around the globe. This is a community where you will get information to keep yourself warmed up on your Microsoft technology space you are working / exploring on.
4. What do you do with TechNet Wiki, and how does that fit into the rest of your job?
I believe that learning never ends, and there is always a better solution of a problem, so the best way to learn and learn from others' experiences is to be connected with the community. And TechNet is the best source to gain knowledge and apply them in my on-job experiences. And most importantly, it keeps me warmed up with what's happening in my technology space!
5. What is it about TechNet Wiki that interests you?
I have been a very frequent visitor on MSDN, and as soon as I saw TechNet Wiki I started coming here; I liked the concept of how people globally are connected and collaborating to share their experiences on solving issues, or sharing new techniques by posting articles here. I also started leveraging this platform for expanding my horizon on the Microsoft platform; I started sharing my articles and contributing in editing and reading other articles as well.
6. In what other places do you contribute your technical knowledge?
I have started sharing mostly on TechNet, as this is a large community and open platform where others can refine your content and share additional related information!
You will find all my Wiki articles here: Mohammad Nizamuddin TechNet
However apart from TechNet, mostly I share posts on my personal blog sites:-
SQL Server -> http://insqlserver.com
Microsoft.Net -> http://shaikhnizam.blogspot.com
SharePoint -> http://spshare.blogspot.com
7. What interests you most in the TechNet Wiki?
The content keeps getting refined, the new articles keep coming, and it's a collection of all sources that I need on the SharePoint platform today. In other words, if you want to setup a SharePoint development environment, you can help get everything you need on a single page!
8. Do you have any comments for product groups about TechNet Wiki?
I'd like to see the extension of TechNet Wiki in a mobile app, so that people can browse Wiki content on a mobile device; they should be able to set their favorite posts to read later on, to get notifications for new content for their areas of interests, search content, etc.
Please join me in thanking Nizam for all his many community contributions and accomplishments!
