The Microsoft TechNet Guru Awards! (July 2014)

All the votes are in! (finally)

And below are the results for the TechNet Guru Awards, July 2014 !!!!

Results were a few days late this month, due to many judges being on vacation.

The TechNet Guru Awards celebrate the technical articles on TechNet, contributed from valued wiki authors like YOU!

Each month, the contributions are scored by a panel of judges (5 per category, 2-3 in each are MS experts), and the winners of each category are showered with love and attention from all corners of TechNet.

See the links at the bottom, to find out more about the competition and how to enter.

We have picked the top three highest scored contributions for each category to bestow our awards upon.

The awards are in gold, silver and bronze, the gold obviously being the top winner of the category.

The last column is just a few of the comments judges made during the judging process.

In some cases, we have not obtained permission to use the judges names, so they have been reduced to initials.

My fellow wiki ninjas will be digging deeper into some of these articles in this blog series, so watch out for those.

Starting this month you will notice some articles are marked as failing to meet our minimum bar for quality or content.

Any of our judges can exercise their right to veto an article, if they do not feel it meets minimum requirements for a medal.

When this is the case, we will at least give an indication of the reason, so you understand why.

A big thank you also to the other authors who did not make the top three of each category.

Some articles only just missed out, so we may be returning to discuss those too, in future blogs.

  1. Hasham Niaz says:

Results are getting very late each month, its nice to see them at last

  2. Congratulations to all the winners!! Any chance my name in the SharePoint category can be fixed?

Also, I wondering if I can apply to be a TechNet blogger? So far I have written 20 articles, edited over 100 articles and posted over 30 blog comments. Let me know and once again congratulations to all the winners.

  3. Durval Ramos says:

I’m very happy with the results of this month.

Congrats to all winners, especially Ronen, Naomi, Visakh16, Dan and the great winner "Mr.X" !!!

  4. Ed (DareDevil57) says:

Congrats to everyone. Awesome articles Mr.X

  5. Hasham, very true. It’s tough to get the judging all in fast enough. We’ll keep trying to do this. One way is to recruit a lot of great judges so that we get them in sooner (less to judge per person and more likely to get some great ones done on time).

  6. I won a gold medal! Woot! Nonki had a ton of amazing articles this month!

Emphatic thank you goes out to all the wonderful contributors!

  7. pituach says:

  11. Pete Laker says:

Congratulations to all our winners this month. The quality of the work is quite remarkable, we have some amazing talent around TechNet.

The general feeling is that the scoring system needs a little tweak, as some excellent articles missed out on an award again this month.

Therefore, we will be trying to weight second, third, fourth articles in the same category more. This means a contributor’s top article will still get the top marks, but subsequent articles in the category will be more heavily weighted, giving others in that
same category a chance to float up the ranking a little more and possibly take those silver and bronze medals.

  12. Saeid Hasani says:

    Pete, really nice idea!
    More chance for every contributor!
More effort for being on top! 🙂

  13. pituach says:

    Thanks Saeid 🙂

  14. Shanky_621 says:
