Should TechNet Guru Awards be in the Wiki Ninja Belt Rankings?

So we've got the TechNet Guru Awards:

TechNet Guru Contributions

And then we have the Wiki Ninja Belt Rankings (which we're working to automate):

Wiki Ninja Belt Rankings

Should the Guru award medals be a requirement to complete certain belt rankings?

If so, which ones? What would the requirements be?

Think about the higher-end belts because those Guru medals aren't easy to get!!!

Thanks for your feedback!

    Seems like a good requirement

    Ed,

We have excellent authors in TechNet Wiki Brazil and also believe that on Russia and China and this requirement makes these great contributors not conquer "Wiki Ninjas" belts, simply because they don’t write article in English language. Using this information,
I think this may be a relevant criterion from the "Advanced Wiki Ninjas" belts group.

We can also think that this requirement is valid if the winner awards for each International Community ("TechNet Wiki Day", MTTC and MTFC) to be indicated as an alternative to "TechNet Guru" medal. So, for example to get "Black Belt" (1st Dan) the member would
need "N" gold medals on "TechNet Guru" or "TechNet Wiki Day" or "MTTC" or "MTFC".

Please, let us think better and acknowledge those who help many other members around the world. They also deserve a special belt and not only "World-Wide Ninja" belt.

  3. Naomi and Saeid,

Where do you think it should go? How high up in the Ninja rankings? Higher than the black belts?

I wouldn’t want it to make the earlier Ninja Belts too challenging, because the Guru awards can be tough to win!

And then what might the requirements be? I’d think it should be any medal at first. And then would a gold medal be requirement for the top ranking?

  4. Durval, that’s a good point. I like that solution!

It also puts some pressure on each language’s leadership team to keep their awards going! =^)

    Ed,
    My suggestions are:
Master (8th Dan) needs at least 3 Bronze medal winning in TN GURU
Master (9th Dan) needs at least 3 Silver medal winning in TN GURU
Master (10th Dan) needs at least 3-5 Gold medal winning in TN GURU

  6. Wow. 3-5 gold medals would be really hard! =^)

We’ll have to think through that. Durval had a good point about including the other language awards.

    Thanks, Saeid!

    Ed, Saeid,

I think at least one medal should be considered in the Blue Belt. What do you think about it ?

  8. Durval, do you think that’ too early for a medal requirement? I don’t want to make it too hard because sometimes they might not be writing articles for the right category or it might be difficult for another reason.

    Thanks for the feedback!

    Ed,

I believe that "INTERMEDIATE WIKI NINJAS" (Green, Blue, Purple and Brown belts) should have at least a "bronze medal", because these members are not beginners.

Who is able to receive these belts must have a knowledge of the basic patterns about TechNet Wiki and also share articles with quality. I think a Brown belt (just a belt before black belt) should have at least one medal. Anyway, this is a "special member"
in our Community and should be an example to the younger members. This is my opinion, but I respect the current criteria for selection Belts ;^)

After reading your discussion, I change my suggestion to this plan:
Master (8th Dan) needs at least 1 Bronze medal winning in TN GURU
Master (9th Dan) needs at least 1 Silver medal winning in TN GURU
Master (10th Dan) needs at least 1 Gold medal winning in TN GURU
