The Council is a small group from Microsoft and the community that will create policies to make the wiki community work.

There are eight members: four FTEs, two MVPs, and two “at large.” Although not yet complete, current names are Larry Franks, Kim Ditto-Ehlert, Monica Rush (FTE); Gerard Boyer (at large). We hope to have all members shortly after the 4/15 launch. Members will serve for a year.

The Council models itself after the Ubuntu Leadership Code of Conduct, whose “foremost goal is ensuring that their team members and team succeed.” Early tasks we will take on include clarifying policies around plagiarism and non-English content.

We will meet weekly for the time being. We will post meeting minutes on this page, and we’ll archive minutes here.

Important: Please add agenda items below: we need suggestions about important issues.

The Community Council is a small group of members from both Microsoft and the Community. The Community Council takes responsibility for the following goals and tasks:

  • Represents the Wiki community members to the community as a whole and to Microsoft.
  • Arbitrates disagreements between Wiki members over edits and/or policy change/feature change requests.
  • Recommends policy changes.
  • Maintains and enforces the Code of Conduct.
  • Fosters, incubates, and curates community.

The Community Council is modeled on the Ubuntu Leadership Code of Conduct, whose “foremost goal is ensuring that their team members and team succeed.” Early tasks the Council will take on include clarifying policies around plagiarism and non-English content.

The Community Council membership shall comprise:

  • Four Microsoft employees
  • Two Microsoft Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs)
  • Two “at large” members

As of 4/2/2010, members include Larry Franks, Kim Ditto-Ehlert, Monica Rush (Microsoft); Artem Pronichkin (MVP); Gerard Boyers (at large).  Members serve for one year terms. New terms begin in April of each year. There is no limit on the number of consecutive one year terms a member may serve.

The Community Council meets as required to achieve its goals. Community Council meeting minutes may be found on this page, with an archive here.

Please add agenda items below. We will continually need suggestions about important issues.
