In this post I’d like to provide everyone with some notable updates on the direction of the Microsoft User Groups Portal and what the Wiki Ninjas are doing to support the Microsoft User Groups movement.
We received a lot of great feedback from community members all over the world on this initiative. It was great to see many community members engaging the Wiki for the first time.
Update #1: We encourage all user group leaders to ensure that their groups are registered with Microsoft Technical Communities (MSTC). If your group is already registered with MSTC, verify that your group details are up to date. The MSTC website can be found at http://www.technicalcommunity.com.
For those who don’t know about MSTC, here is a quote from their FAQs: “MSTC helps community leaders and speakers grow the technical passion and capacity of local communities worldwide by supporting community efforts with technical content, speakers and a wide range of value-added assets.”
Directly after we launched the User Groups Portal, its existence and the energy surrounding it became a catalyst for the Wiki Ninjas and the MSTC Program to enter into a collaborative dialog. Now that’s a community win!
Update #2: The Wiki Ninjas and the MSTC Program are working together to provide enhanced access to public user group information and community based articles in support of the operations and growth of Microsoft User Group communities worldwide.
In the coming weeks and months you’ll see positive and synergistic changes to the User Group Portal on the Wiki and to the MSTC website based on our inter-team collaboration. These changes (we’ll talk more about the specifics in a future blog post) are the type of changes that are only possible when two teams have a shared vision and work together towards a common cause.
As we move forward with this initiative we are very interested in any feedback or suggestions you may have. Please use the comments section below to let us know what you think we can do better to support in of Microsoft User Group communities.
