Friday with International Community Update – Progress in each language (Oct. 2013)
Hello Community!
Today is Friday with International Community Update.
The end of October is as follows:
The topic of this month:
- 4 new locales found
- Spectacular debut of az-AZ (Azerbaijan)
- en-US over 8000 and pt-BR (+ Brazilian Wiki) over 3000
- nb-NO (Norway) is back
What locale is the oldest? (except English)
Have you already read the blog article "Happy Second Anniversary to the Wiki Ninja Blog!!!!!" posted by Maheshkumar S Tiwari?
By reading his article, I was impressed and I thought to search data to look back on a past. Thanks, Mahesh!!
So, I looked for the oldest article which has locale tag.
- Only still remains. (I can't find the article which has already removed)
- Order by Tagging time. (Not creating time)
The list is as follows.
The oldest article which have locale tag is zh-CN (in the English Wiki instance) !! Great Work Tony!
The next are Multilingual series of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP4 Release Notes.
As far as I searched, locale tag was started in earnest from March 2011 by pt-BR. And then, other languages began a little later. Please see pt-BR history.
Therefore, these multilingual articles by Ed were experiments to raise global community, I guess. Is it right?
If so, these experiments became a great success!!
Thanks!
