TNWiki Article Spotlight - BizTalk Server 2013: How to use SFTP Adapter

The BizTalk 2010 release brought an enhanced FTP adapter to support SSL (FTPS), which encrypts the data transfers between systems. This was a great step forward in bringing more support for FTP in BizTalk Server. Subsequently with the BizTalk 2013 release, Microsoft added the highly anticipated SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol also called Secure File Transfer Protocol) adapter.

Before the 2013 release BizTalk Developers/Administrators had to rely on either the open source adapter developed by Blogical found on CodePlex or an adapter from commercial third parties (like /n software SFTP).

Today you can use the out of the box SFTP adapter and do not have to look for alternatives anymore. How to work with this adapter is explained in the BizTalk Server 2013: How to use SFTP Adapter TechNet Wiki Article.

This article has been written by Suleiman Shakhtour, who has recently joined the ranks of Wiki authors. Suleiman describes in this article:

  • how to setup a test environment to test a BizTalk solution that makes use of the SFTP Adapter,
  • how to configure the SFTP Adapter
  • and how to test it.

Besides this article he also wrote another great article called BizTalk Server: Receive and Send Excel Files from Existing Templates, discussing how to deal with incoming and outgoing excel files in BizTalk.

So go check out both these articles!
