Welcome to our Monday interview with a Wiki Ninja! We've got two interviews today! Check out Fernando's interview with Hezequias.

Today's ninja is Caio Vilas Boas. For those who don't know, Caio has been beating me in the top stats. Check out Pete Laker's latest Saturday list of Top Contributors. And Caio also has had the top points for a week or so (viewable on the Wiki homepage): https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/

And one amazing thing to me is that Caio is doing all this (including the Popular Contributors list, which is based on article views related to the contributions)... with a focus on Portuguese content! That's a fantastic sign of the growing Portuguese community! Here's this week's top 10 Popular Contributors:

Let's get started with the interview!

Who are you, where are you, and what do you do? What are your specialty technologies?

I’m Caio Vilas Boas, and I live in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I have worked as a Technology Consultant, specialized in Microsoft Technologies, for the last five years, in global companies like Microsoft (HP) and Nokia Siemens Networks.

My main specialty is implementing, maintaining and troubleshooting Hyper-V and Windows Server services, such as Active Directory.

What are your big projects right now?

Currently I’m founding the Microsoft IT Pro Group (www.itprogroup.com.br),  a user group which will organize and deliver several events, presentations and webcasts in Brazil. Also, we are creating technical articles in TechNet Wiki – and our goal to 2013 is to publish at least 10 articles per week there.

In TechNet Forums, I’m moderator of Windows Server Foruns (2003, 2008, 2012), Hyper-V I started a mob to reduce the “backlog” of unanswered threads in Windows Server 2003 forum (https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/pt-BR/winsrv2003pt/threads). In 3 weeks, we reduced the index of unanswered threads from 5170 to 4565.

What is TechNet Wiki for? Who is it for?

It was made for everyone who wants to learn or to share knowledge about Microsoft technologies, for both beginners and experts. I believe that the main reason for the success of TechNet Wiki is that it provides a space for publishing and promote articles, and almost every article there are seen, valued and ranked by the community. At least to me, the recognition system is very motivating.

What is it about TechNet Wiki that interests you?

It’s hard to answer that shortly, but I believe that the most important are: ease of publishing and editing articles, the recognition system (points by article views, medals), and ability to comment on articles.

What are your favorite Wiki articles you’ve contributed?

The top five are:

What are the top 5 Wiki articles or areas that need more attention and development?

It would be nice to have more published articles regarding

  • Windows Azure
  • System Center products
  • SQL Server
  • Windows Server Core (PowerShell)
  • Exchange Server

Who has impressed you in the Wiki community, and why?

I’m especially impressed by the work Ed Price has done in all areas. Surely he deserves the title of Ninja. But in Portuguese TechNet Wiki, I have to mention the great work of Vinicius Mozart and Adriel Gavazza. Congrats to all you guys, and keep working.
