As per the Wiki Ninjas Blog Authoring Schedule, today it's my turn to put an article together on the Wiki life.
But the experience I've had the last week, made me proud of the Wiki community, so allow me to disregard that article category, just for once.
As some of you know, as of 2/apr I joined Microsoft Services as a Premier Field Engineer.
While the usual administrative paper work continues, I'm started to ramp up for the new job.
It's pretty logical that you get in touch with lots of new colleagues, each and every one with an interesting experience.
The easiest way to plug into that knowledge is asking for their favorite source of information.
Surprisingly one answer was returning quite frequently: Technet Wiki, "of course".
And more specificly the collection articles, Wiki FAQ, overview pages or catalogs.
I'm certainly not the only one that has been working on these overview pages:- FIM 2010 Wiki Articles, Forefront Identity Manager Resources (en-US).
Just take a look at the vast amount of survival guides.
Maybe we should use a more specifc nomenclature for these articles, but my point is: these kind of article collections are the power of the community.
Newbies use them to get started; experts use them to gather in-depth knowledge.
Don't get caught; it seems easy to build an overview page.
But keeping it up-to-date is another important (time-consuming) task.
So, what I wanted to say: THANK YOU for taking the challenge!
