Google Exec Tweet That Makes No Sense.

Sometimes executives share thoughts that are thought provoking and demonstrate their leadership qualities that capture a moment, a strategy or a insight we can all understand.  Other times, not so much.

What if...

What if a leader of a software company said the following:

"I am surprised people like our new feature. It's part of an application I sell to businesses, but when I think about it, I don't think they need that application"   That would be weird right?

Then look at yesterday's tweet from Dave Girouard, President of Google Enterprise Division which basically says the same thing.  Reminder he is responsible for selling Gmail to businesses and convincing them his division is serious about meeting their current and future needs of productivity.

By what statistic?  Anyone want to make sense of it for me?  Maybe he's preannouncing Google BrainWave for telepathy (delivered in Labs of course, don't want to caught supporting those new features...). Maybe he read the Gartner report that stated Microsoft leads the email market and didn't like their opinion?

IDC estimates the messaging application market (archiving, platform, mobile) all to grow for their foreseeable forecasts.  Email remains a core pillar of modern communications and at Microsoft we are committed to deliver best in class Email along with Voice and Presence for the enterprise.  If you use Outlook 2010 and Exchange 2010, you'll love the new tools like Clean Up, Mail Tips, Ignore Thread, etc that all help you regain control of email and move on with your busy day.
