Documentation for Out of Band Management

Most of the changes in the documentation between the SP1 RC release and SP1 RTM are in the out of band management feature. Of particular note are the following 4 topics:

  • Prerequisites for Out of Band Management. This topic has a couple of additions.
  • Determine Whether to Configure an AMT Provisioning and Discovery Account for Out of Band Management. This is a new topic to help guide you through whether you need to specify an account for AMT provisioning and discovery, and if so, what values to use.
  • Decide How to Migrate from an AMT-Based Management Solution to Out of Band Management in Configuration Manager. This has minor revisions, and is applicable if you are currently running Intel Active Management Technology (Intel AMT) Add-on for Microsoft SMS 2003, and you want to migrate these computers to be provisioned and managed out of band by Configuration Manager 2007 SP1.
  • Configuration Manager AMT Provisioning Process for Out of Band Management. This is a new technical reference topic that steps through the technical process flow of provisioning out of band, and provisioning in-band. You can use this information to develop a better understanding of how provisioning works, and to help you interpret the log file entries if you are troubleshooting.

These topics have been technically reviewed. To request one or more of these topics, send an e-mail to SMSDocs@Microsoft.com and list the required topic title(s).
