Non-Technical News: Redmond Juniors Win First Game At Yakima Mid Summer Special

Greetings from Yakima, Washington, where frequent visitors to this space will recall I've traveled to watch my son Kyle's team compete in the Yakima Mid Summer Special baseball tournament.

Today they faced the Red Sox, who certainly appear to be a local team here in Yakima (several members of the team did maintenance work on the field after the game). This afternoon's game was very well-played by both side. Redmond jumped out 1-0; the Red Sox came back to take a 2-1 lead which held until Redmond broke through with three runs in the bottom of the sixth. The Red Sox went quietly in the top of the 7th, and Redmond won 4-2.

This weekend's version of our team features two young men who haven't played with this group since last summer, Chris Moore and Ryan FitzPatrick (a name you might remember from last summer's baseball talk).

Tomorrow the boys play a doubleheader of sorts as they face Prairie at 9:00am and Columbia Basin at 6:00pm. They'll then play a final game on Sunday which will determine their placement in the tournament. I'll of course keep you posted on all of these events.
