Welcome Back, Peter Gammons!

I haven't subjected you to a baseball post in awhile. Don't worry, I'll be brief..

I can't let the day pass without noting that the great Peter Gammons has returned to his nonpareil column (link requires subscription) on ESPN.com after his health issues in early July. He will also return to his analyst's chair tomorrow night.

I greatly enjoyed his column today, and not just because he thanked people I know for their friendship and support. Even if you're not a baseball fan, read the first portion of this column (subscription required), wherein he recounts the events of the last two months, and try to resist the belief that you're in the presence of both a profoundly wonderful human being, and a genius.
