Non-Technical Content: Home From Moses Lake A Day Early

My final dispatch re: the Northern Washington Babe Ruth 13U Tournament (edited on 18 July to include final result):

The game against Central Kitsap didn't fall the Raiders' way.  They fell to a 7-0 deficit after two innings and rallied to within 9-6 before falling, 13-6.  They finished with a 2-2 record, out of the championship round by virtue of a tiebreaker.  However, the two teams who beat them both went on to the championship round.

The entire event was wonderful, and all of the boys put on a great show.  It should be no surprise that this great group of kids has a great group of parents, and it was especially wonderful to get to know some of the adults behind the boys during our week of travelling together.  We're looking for another tournament for the boys to play in later in the summer, but the quest for a trip to New Jersey has, alas, ended in Moses Lake (I think there's a country song in there somewhere).

As of this writing, the folks at Northwest Babe Ruth Baseball have not yet updated their website with the results of the final; I can relate that the number one seed from each pool, Eastmont and Ellensburg, played in the final earlier today (Ellensburg defeated Eastmont, 2-1, and will represent the state at the Northwest Regional Tournament in Pendleton, OR).

So, until we meet again, congratulations to the District 3 13 Champion Redmond Raiders: A.B., ARod, Avery, Chris, Cody, Conner, Corey, Evan, Gavin, Jacob, Kyle, Lucas, Ryan, and Zach, as well as Manager Mark and Coaches Mike, Rick, and Bob, and all of the other parents and siblings.  Good on all of you!
