More Insight Regarding Addition of License Mobility to Software Assurance

In an recent email Q&A conversation, the WHIR's Editor in Chief, Liam Eagle, speaks with Microsoft’s senior director for the server and tools business, Steve Martin, regarding the License Mobility changes, including how some of the changes could result in new business opportunities for service providers.

As stated by Liam, "Designed in large part as a response to customer requests for licensing changes that would accommodate evolving software-as-a-service consumption models, the new License Mobility plan is designed largely around enabling Microsoft customers with existing software license investments to use their existing software licenses in new shared environments.

It is also intended to simplify things for hosting providers, enabling them to use the same Microsoft software licenses for a greater variety of scenarios, along with deeper discounts on larger suites of Microsoft tools."
