Why Can't Learning Be Fun?

I'm losing steam as I write this blog entry, but here goes:

 Why can't Learning be fun?!  It has been number one question for much of my academic career as a student and now is one I strive to answer as a Product Manager.  Fun sells and fun can be educational. I think I might have learned more playing Capitalism then undegrad Business School.  Why can't the same thing be found in learning about technology?  Or does it?  If you have examples of fun, valuable learning for IT Pros and Developers in the tech space; let me know!
