For years, we’ve promoted that if you wanted a 99.95% guaranteed up-time SLA for an Azure Virtual Machine, you needed to have two or more virtual machines together in an Availability Set.

WELL NO MORE!

You can now get a 99.9% financially backed guaranteed up-time SLA for a single instance Azure Virtual Machine! This is perfect for the SMB who is looking to put a second domain controller in the Azure cloud or move their first line of business workload into Azure, while still have some level of confidence around availability.

Will we still offer the 99.95% SLA for multi-instance virtual machines? Yes. We’ve just made the single instance VM experience more predictable. And when we do need to take a virtual machine down for Azure infrastructure maintenance, we will still provide notification five days in advance.
