OEMs and Support for Windows 7/8.1 on SkyLake processors (6th gen.)

Josh Condie - This one is a quick reference, but an important one for you to have in your back pocket as you refresh your customers devices and are making the decision between Windows 10 and older versions of the OS.  Microsoft has announced that support for Microsoft Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 will end on July 17, 2017 for all Intel Skylake processor systems.  This means that all security fixes will end on this date and customers should transition to Windows 10 prior to this date. A detailed statement from Microsoft can be found in this blog Windows 10 Embracing Silicon Innovation.

To arm you with up-to-date information on supported devices, Microsoft just published a portal which allows you to drill into each OEMs support for Windows 7 and 8.1 on the new, Intel 6th generation processors known as "Skylake."  It's broken down by OEM and then by device family.
