Wanted to make all aware of a recent update to the Administering Office 365 for Small Business course that is available on the Microsoft Virtual Academy. This is the third version of this course, updated with the most current Office 365 functionality. This is presented by Microsoft partners for Microsoft partners by Chris Oakman - Eastridge Technology Chief Infrastructure Officer and Josh Sammons - Eastridge Technology Director of Infrastructure.

From Exchange and Lync to SharePoint and OneDrive, learn the important administrative tasks needed to successfully manage Office 365 for your small business. Get to know the Office 365 platform, services, and offerings, along with how to execute common small business management functions.

01 | Office 365 Overview & Infrastructure​

Get an overview of Office 365, including available plans and service connectors, plus features and requirements, and see a demonstration on the Microsoft Online Services Portal. Explore PowerShell scripting, using the Azure Active Directory module for PowerShell, and common PowerShell management tasks.

02 | ​Office 365 User Management

Examine adding domains to Office 365, understanding Identities, adding and managing users and groups, and administration roles, plus hear a discussion on the differences between changes to Public DNS and Private DNS and see a demo on how to add a new domain to Office 365. Review the differences between cloud and federated identity, the advantages of DirSync with Password Sync, and the differences between Single Sign-On and Same Sign-On.

03 | Office 365 DirSync, Single Sign-On, & Same Sign-On

Review Identity Management​ and the different core identity scenarios that are available in Office 365, and then take a look at DirSync and how it enables Single Sign-On and coexistence for Exchange and Lync. Look at Windows Server 2012 R2 Integration, and review Single Sign-On and Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS).

04 | ​Administering Lync Online for SMB

Get an overview of Lync Online, including features, benefits, capabilities, and system requirements, with exploratory demos. Hear a discussion of the DNS and network settings required to support Lync Online, plus how to configure Lync Online for small businesses using the Admin Center.

06 | Administering Exchange Online for SMB​

Explore Exchange Online and its features, benefits, capabilities, and system requirements, plus look at what's new in Exchange Online, including the Office 365 admin center, Exchange admin center (EAC), remote PowerShell, and user self-service through OWA. Look at administration tasks for small businesses, including user, mailbox, contact, and permission maintenance, in addition to Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).

​07 | Exchange Online Deployment & Migration

Examine the options available to small businesses for migrating existing Exchange Server on-premises deployments to Exchange Online, and hear a discussion of the various migration types that are available, including remote move, staged, cutover, and IMAP. Check out the Exchange Server 2013 Deployment Assistant, which helps you determine which migration type to use to migrate mailboxes.

08 | ​Exchange Security, Archiving, & Compliance

Take a look at Exchange Online Protection (EOP) and EOP settings, and hear a discussion of multi-layered anti-spam protection, anti-spam filtering, effective spam blocking, and EOP inbound and outbound filtering. See how small businesses can take advantage of Exchange archiving functionality, including the benefits of and challenges to archiving, full-featured archiving, and the end-user experience.

09 | Administering OneDrive for Business

Get an introduction to Microsoft OneDrive for Business and compare it to Microsoft OneDrive. Examine how OneDrive for Business provides access to files from anywhere using any device, along with the synchronization issues that small businesses may face. Review how SharePoint libraries are synchronized with OneDrive for Business, in addition to how external users can share documents.

10 | Administering Yammer for SMB

Begin with an overview of Yammer, including features, benefits, capabilities, and system requirements, and explore Yammer administration tasks for small businesses, including adding a company domain, product activations, user management and security, admin permissions, and customizing the design and security elements of Yammer.

11 | Troubleshooting and Support for SMB

Examine service availability, which reviews the best places to look when an issue is reported or noticed, including the Office 365 dashboard, Office 365 Admin app for mobile devices, SCOM Management pack for Office 365, and Office 365 Service Communications API. Look at common issues affecting small businesses, including licensing issues, and an assortment of common DNS troubleshooting issues.
