Office 365 Performance Management

As Office 365 becomes more accepted as a mainstream augmentation or alternative to an on-premises network, customer and ultimately partner questions turn to “so how much bandwidth do I need?” That’s always a difficult question to quickly answer, because there so many factors to take into account.

Last November, my team mate, Todd, posted about some the Microsoft Virtual Academy courses on Exchange Online Protection, Encryption in Office 365, and Data Loss Prevention in Office 365 (Microsoft Virtual Academy Courses on Office 365). In that same blog post, he referenced education about Project Online and Office 365 Performance Manager.

I recently had an opportunity to watch some of the Office 365 Performance Manager sessions and I found them VERY interesting. They provided not only good technical information, but good talking points to help convince customers why our Office 365 / Azure / Bing solutions are engineered to be responsive to customer needs and how to estimate bandwidth needs and isolate bandwidth issues.

The topics include:

  • Introduction to Office 365 Performance Testing
  • Office 365 Datacenters and Global Customer Network
  • Planning for Office 365 Internet Capacity – Exchange Online
  • Planning for Office 365 Internet Capacity – Lync Online
