New EMS “Add On” SKUs hit Open License Tomorrow

Woody Walton

On March 1st we added The Enterprise Mobility Suite (EMS) to Open License Offerings in Open Business and Open Value.  Please see my post here for details on the overall offering.

Tomorrow we flush out EMS in the channel further by extending additional pricing options for those customers with existing investments in the Microsoft platform, specifically those customers which have purchased one of the products below with Software Assurance.

Qualifying License and Add-On User SL

An Add-on User SL is a SL that is purchased in addition to (and associated with) a qualifying license (or set of qualifying licenses), as outlined in the table below.

Note:  CAL Suite Bridges are only a factor when the customer is transitioning from a CAL Suite (on premises) to a comparable Product and Online Service combination. As such, CAL Suite Bridges are comprised of those CAL Suite workloads that are not included in Office 365 or Microsoft Intune. CAL Suite Bridges allow existing CAL Suites customers to retain their current software access to those CAL Suite workloads that are not licensed through the corresponding online service.  …Though they are typical for small businesses, you may encounter customers that have them.  you can learn more on these license types on the Microsoft Volume Licensing website.

The bottom line is that these options allow customers to save money.

The table below shows the savings by Open Program:

All Prices MSRP.

As an example, the “monthly” rate for EMS for a commercial business that had a Core CAL with SA would be $4.23 a month.   …Windows Intune, Azure AD Premium and Azure RMS all for this price.   This REALLY demonstrates the value of the EMS suite as opposed to a la carte offerings such as AD premium which currently has no “Add-on” pricing.

I would like to Thank Kristen Stallard of SYNNEX Corporation for providing the EMS pricing for this post.
