Office 365 for Mac and iOS environments

In case you didn’t catch it, Microsoft made some exciting new announcements over the last week for customers using Office 365 in Mac and iOS environments.

First, on October 31, we announced a brand new Outlook for Mac client.  The new Outlook for Mac delivers better performance and reliability and a new modern user interface similar to Outlook on the PC, Outlook on the web and Outlook Web App (OWA) for iPad and iPhone.  It also includes several new features like Online Archive support that allows you to browse and search your archive mailbox.

Last week Microsoft also announced the roadmap for the next version of Office for Mac - including Word for Mac, Excel for Mac, PowerPoint for Mac and OneNote for Mac.  In the first half of 2015 we will release a public beta for the next version of Office for Mac, and in the second half of 2015 we will make the final release available. Office 365 commercial and consumer subscribers will get the next version at no additional cost.

Finally, yesterday Microsoft announced new Office for iPhone apps, and updated Office for iPad apps.  The new Office for iPhone apps deliver the same great Office for iPad experience, optimized for the iPhone. 

As part of this same announcement yesterday, Microsoft also shared that everyone will be able to create and edit Office content on iPhones and iPads using Office apps, even those without an Office 365 subscription.  Of course Office 365 subscribers will continue to benefit from the full Office experience across devices with advanced editing and collaboration capabilities, unlimited OneDrive storage, Dropbox integration and a number of other benefits.
