Exchange Online Archiving and SharePoint Online Additional Storage availability expanded!

Todd Sweetser

Hi Cloud Sellers!

There have been further additions to which Office 365 SKUs that allow the ability to add-on Exchange Online Archiving (initial Enterprise SKU blog post that discusses and shows how to add-on is here.) Additionally, the ability to add-on SharePoint Online storage has been expanded to additional SKUs as well!

First, regarding Exchange Online Archiving. As discussed and shown in previous post, you now have ability to add Exchange Online Archiving (EOA) as an ADD-ON to Kiosk, Exchange Plan 1 as well as the E1 SKU. With the recent updates you can now add-on EOA to the Midsize offering! This is an exciting development as this is a fairly common ask from you, our partners! Do note though, this is currently only available when both Midsize and Enterprise SKUs are purchased through the ADVISOR (direct) model and is NOT available via OPEN or FPP. EOA cannot be added to Enterprise or Midsize via OPEN/FPP today.

Second, regarding the ability to add-on SharePoint Online Extra Storage. This is how you can add storage space to your SharePoint Online environment at a cost of 20₵ per GB per month and can be used for SharePoint Online sites as well as adding to your users’ SkyDrive Pro space allocation. Initially this was only available for Enterprise SKUs, but now you can now add-on storage space onto Midsize and Small Business (both Small Business and Small Business Premium) SKUs as well! There are a few caveats to be aware of today. Similar to EOA above, this is currently only available when both Midsize and Enterprise SKUs are purchased through the ADVISOR (direct) model and is NOT available via OPEN or FPP. There is an optional way to add storage space to these SKUs purchased via OPEN/FPP today though. It entails purchasing ONE seat of Office 365 in that OPEN tenant via the Direct (advisor) model. This seat would need to be a Midsize SKU in a Midsize OPEN tenant or can be an a-la-carte SharePoint Online SKU in an Enterprise OPEN tenant. From there you can add-on additional SharePoint Online space. Even though it is attached to a single license the storage added is available to ALL users. Do note that the billing for the tenant will now be an OPEN/Advisor hybrid.

Additionally, regarding Small Business and Small Business Premium, SharePoint Additional Storage add-on is only available when purchased month-to-month and it is NOT available when these SKUs are purchased for a full year up front.

Note I will be updating this post as changes and new information are made available.

Thanks! And good selling!
