Does Visual Studio 2010 Professional come with Action Pack?

Q: (from Shawn)

Visual Studio 2010 Professional comes with the action pack correct?

A:

Sort of…

There are now two Microsoft Action Pack Subscription (MAPS) editions found at:

https://partner.microsoft.com/US/program/memsubscriptions

  • Microsoft Action Pack Solution Provider
  • Microsoft Action Pack Development and Design

The version of Visual Studio that used to be part of MAPS was called Express and has now become a free download (http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/en-us/products/2010-editions/express)

The version of Visual Studio included MAPS Development and Design is Professional:

Hi Steve, it is supposed to be included but when the subscription is activated you cannot download Visual Studio at all. Do yu know why?

Yes, Where is the download link? Its not in the partner center, MSDN is requesting a subscriberID. and the partner network dash does not show msdn subscribtions available to distribute to users. So is there a time period you must wait before msdn is available after purchasing MAPS Development and Design?

  3. pete says:

Yes, we see no link to MSVS in the "development" license list when we log in to our partner account.

You have to assign privileges and then activate the MSDN subscription. Instructions are in the program administrator user guide and the end user guide
