Why Windows 7? Why now?
Windows 7 is now a year old and I’m still hearing questions like “Why Windows 7?” or statements like “XP is good enough”. Other people are still saying things like “I’m waiting for SP1”, or “I want to see someone else do it first”, OR “I have applications that are not compatible with Windows 7”. I wanted to take a few minutes and address some of these questions and comments since Windows 7 has now been on the market for over a year.
- Why Windows 7? XP is good enough
- I’m waiting for SP1. Honestly, please don’t wait, even Gartner has recommended not waiting for SP1. But for those that insist on waiting; SP1 is right around the corner, so please start testing and building your plans.
- I want to see someone else do it first. OK, let me point you to some of the successes from the people that have already “done it”.
- I have applications that are not compatible with Windows 7
Isn’t it nice that we’ve actually answered all of these questions already? We currently have 130 Windows 7 Case Studies. Since we have so many, we also give you the tools so you can filter these case studies to meet your needs. All of the Windows 7 Case Studies can be found here.
I hope this helps. If you are hearing other objections in your Windows 7 discussions, please share them with me so we can get them addressed.
Until next time,
Rob
