Microsoft Security Essentials

Recently while giving a presentation on Windows XP mode, which is the ability to run a “Virtual XP” environment within Windows 7, the conversation came up about managing and protecting the XP machine. YES you need to manage and protect the machine like it is another computer in your environment. The license for the Virtual XP in XP mode is provided as a feature when you purchase of a Business Oriented version of Windows 7. These include Professional, Enterprise or Ultimate.

The question was about Anti-Virus and Malware protection. Several known brands were mentioned. I then proceeded to talk about the free Microsoft Security Essentials. I was actually surprised to see that nobody had heard of this from Microsoft. So I wanted to call attention to it.
