SharePoint Foundation Licensing

I have client that would like to open their SharePoint site up for access by their customers. I want to figure out if they should buy individual Windows Server CALS for the external customer users or an external connector. Would you know what the price is for the external connector for SharePoint Foundation (they are running WSS 3.0 but will probably upgrade to foundation in the next few months – they are not running SharePoint Standard or Enterprise). Customers will be accessing the site with a user name and password. It’s not for anonymous access.

SharePoint Foundation doesn’t have an external connector; you would be purchasing a Windows Server External Connector. So it would be a comparison of Windows Server CALs vs. the WS External Connector for a Foundation based site:
