Rolling Up Our Sleeves and Giving Back

I was reflecting on how I can give back and serve and re-connected to how much Microsoft positively impacts the community. From the top down, all employees give on a very regular basis - whether through regular draws from our paychecks to the organization of choice to DigiGirlz to deploying our ever steady ole’ MSAM trucks (remember those) out to disaster areas for internet connections. There are many more but the list would go on forever.

The giving back extends through our Microsoft Partner Community. We have a very generous group of partners around the world. Of course right here in my backyard of the South Central Area (Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas) I am privileged to work with some of the best!

I would like to highlight some of the work that the International Association of Microsoft Partners have on their calendar for the upcoming months to give back to the community.

In Houston we have all come to know and love a little boy named Luca. While many of us have never actually met Luca we have a connection to him through someone who not only is a Microsoft Partner but someone who has become a dear friend to the South Central Area - Steve Myers of Kommar Solutions. Luca is the grandson of one of our top Microsoft partners in the Houston area. Last year Luca was diagnosed with Leukemia.

This year the Houston IAMCP donated $1,100 to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The Houston chapter has also donated over $8,000.00 to the Houston Habitat for Humanity this year. The Dallas IAMCP has chosen to donate a portion of their Bi-Annual Golf tournament profits to the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as well.

Over the next few months Oklahoma, San Antonio and Austin will be hosting their golf tournaments. I’m sure we will see great contributions from all. Got a story about how you’ve given back? I’d love to hear about it. Feel free to send me a comment on this blog.
