YouthSpark momentum continues with Philadelphia event

If you want to prepare students for the jobs of the future, you have to start with science, technology, math and engineering (STEM) education.

That was the message behind a recent YouthSpark connections event in Philadelphia, where unemployment is much lower for young adults with STEM skills.

The event brought together business leaders and educators and was covered in several local news outlets.

Microsoft’s Director of Citizenship & Public Affairs, NA, Andrea Taylor, was featured in the Philadelphia Business Journal following the event.

“Parents and teachers often tell children that education is the key to success, but we’re doing them a disservice if we don’t tweak our message and change our conversations to specifically focus on the importance of STEM. The reality is that the jobs of tomorrow will require an increased focus on STEM and we need to start preparing young people for those jobs today,” Andrea said.
