The week that was – 6-10 September

Here’s your regular round-up of all this week’s UK TechNet merriment. Have a great weekend and look out for next week’s TechNet Flash on Thursday – I feel another competition coming on.

Monday’s posts began with a little light relief. TechNet Flash competition winner, David Gargan, sent us a splendid photo of his new Windows 7 mug in action. See – these competitions are worth entering, after all. We also featured a follow on from the newsletter’s technical article in which Andrew Fryer asks what’s around the corner for the IT pro? It makes very interesting reading.

On Tuesday I decided to have a poke around in the Library section of TechNet and found some recently published info in the Microsoft IT Showcase area. You can get yourself an insider's view of the Microsoft enterprise IT environment, including best practices and lessons learned. I also blatantly plugged the TechNet Flash newsletter, this time themed IT skills.

Wednesday brought exciting news of the new Arc Touch Mouse – I’m hoping to get my hands on some for giveaways as soon as the new mouse is released for sale. Yet another reason to enter the newsletter competitions ;-)

Thursday’s discovery was a freshly published white paper providing prescriptive guidance and detailed steps for planning and implementing SQL Server virtualization with Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V and Live Migration. And, breathe!

Today, Simon May (I can’t bring myself to call him Porridge Boy anymore, he’s too nice) wrote a great article with video all about his experience of installing Windows Intune. It took him less than four minutes, don’t you know. I also pinched a brilliant set of of links to videos explaining what’s new in Office Communications Server 14. They’re short and sweet and the content is very good indeed.
