FREE Three Days of online SharePoint 2010 Developer Training March 14th to 16th

3/14/2010

The “Developing for SharePoint 2010” training is uniquely delivered over a three day period and combines instructor led sessions (delivered virtually over Live Meeting with plenty of opportunity for questions) with independent distance learning, email support and access to practical exercises. The training provides delegates with an opportunity to gain insight into the nature and benefits of SharePoint 2010 and ask plenty of questions – without leaving the comfort of their office or home. SharePoint 2010 includes many new capabilities and features for professional developers and makes developing those solutions easier, quicker, and more flexible. Much of the work that the developer had to do in the past with earlier versions of SharePoint has been replaced with simple configuration of the SharePoint 2010 platform, use of Visual Studio 2010 and SharePoint Designer 2010 or with calls to the SharePoint API. This training is intended to drill into the main opportunities for extending SharePoint 2010 with your own code and explain how to integrate existing applications with SharePoint 2010.

How to use Team Foundation Server to Manage the SharePoint Life Cycle

3/3/2011 12:00 PM Mountain Time (US & Canada)

SharePoint has made tremendous impact in the enterprise for several reasons –affordability, ease of implementation, and rapid application deployment opportunities. For these same reasons SharePoint has introduced risk in the organization because effective development practices are not viewed as necessary or useful for SharePoint deployments. SharePoint is a powerful platform for Rapid Application Development (RAD) and often has an even shorter lifecycle than traditional RAD projects. In this session we will discuss and demonstrate the role that TFS plays in the effective management of SharePoint implementations and custom development. Requirements, testing, version control, and deployment of custom features for SharePoint will be demonstrated using TFS and VS 2010.

Traditional content management server (CMS) and taxonomy-driven applications are becoming less relevant, with Bing, Google, and other applications redefining our expectations of information retrieval and user experience. Many companies are struggling to keep their Internet sites fresh, interesting, and accessible. Microsoft FAST Search Server for Internet (FSIS) helps website developers maintain an overall vision for the websites while meeting individual visitor's needs with higher levels of personalization and targeted content delivery. During this webcast, we discuss FSIS, Content Transformation Services (CTS) and Interaction Management Services (IMS) and demonstrate a real-life project using FSIS for a cutting-edge global extranet for one of the world's leading financial institutions.
