Sahara India Life Insurance

Insurance Company Deploys Integration Solution and
Eliminates Paper Movement and Delays in Ad-hoc Document Requests

The Sahara Pariwar’s latest foray in the field of Life
Insurance is under Sahara India Life Insurance Company Ltd. (Sahara Life). It
has invested in Life Asia, an application for core policy administration.
However, the application was restricted in scenarios where ad-hoc duplicate
documents (premium statement, duplicate receipt and unit statements) are
required by the customer. What Sahara Life needed was a Web based application,
which could service these requests. With help form Microsoft, it created an
application using ASP.NET, which integrates with Life Asia with other
applications using BizTalk® Server 2006. This allows the servicing of ad-hoc
document requests from the Life Asia production server.

Postal Company Gains Flexibility and Expands Services
with a Service-Oriented Architecture

Österreichische Post AG (Austrian Post) is Austria’s leading
provider of postal and logistics services. When the company’s computing
technologies began to hinder its efficiency and growth, Austrian Post decided
to implement a service-oriented architecture (SOA). Built with the Microsoft
Application Platform, the new solution replaces Oracle and MySQL database
software but uses other existing components, new applications, and systems from
external parties. With its SOA, Austrian Post has reduced the time required to
connect to disparate systems from weeks to hours, increased employee
productivity, cut IT and operational costs, and realized a return on investment
(ROI) in three years.

Connecting Lync to SharePoint

SharePoint 2010 and Lync 2010 offer an extensible platform
to build rich applications that deliver unified communications and
collaboration. For example, workflow solutions with the ability to click to
communicate instantly with others in the approval chain to make a decision,
sales portals that launch team sites with new opportunities and invite the
account team to an online meeting, line of business applications with document
management and the ability to work in real-time with others and the list goes on
and on. Experience these products together the way we designed them. The Lync
experience makes SharePoint better and more importantly makes all our work more
productive and impactful.

Published Intranets in SharePoint Server 2010

A published intranet site is a site that is internal to an
organization and uses the publishing features in Microsoft SharePoint Server
2010 to host content for the entire organization. This is usually the main
communications site or portal for the organization. Typically, such a site is
not available to external users. The site is usually branded and is not a
collaboration mechanism, but rather a place to consolidate information that
needs to be widely shared with the whole organization.
