Systems Center Operations Manager 2007 Documentation

An important MUST READ document has been released and it available via the OpsMgr TechCenter on TechNet (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/opsmgr/default.aspx) or via the download site for documentation https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=d826b836-59e5-4628-939e-2b852ed79859&DisplayLang=en

This covers important steps of what to backup, how and when. Also covered is the basic database move operation for the Operational database. More comprehensive information for more involved move operations will be covered at a later date.

Most importantly making sure you backup the Root Management Server (RMS) encryption keys on the RMS using the SecureStorageBackup utility. Failing to do so will mean you will not be able to restore a failed RMS if an another management server in the management group is not available to be promoted; all Run As accounts and passwords would need to be re-entered. See https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=87387 for further information on backup and restore of the encryption keys.
