Wondering how many Autocolor* Colors* there are?

* - Yes, I know that real people spell it "colour". I'm sorry.

Um, a lot! More than I have the patience to discover!

After a few minutes waiting for Help**desk to fix a problem*** (and so, while unable to do anything else except stare at the browser-based chat window), I thought I'd play a bit with Autocolor in Outlook 2007.

If talking to yourself is the first sign of madness, emailing yourself is...?

Sometime between Beta 2 and RTM, I think this might have been switched off by default, but it's there if you hunt for it, under the Tools -> Options -> Mail Format tab, Stationery and Fonts button:

Why would you ever want to fill your messages with colour? Well, it's really quite helpful for discussions where everyone is commenting inline on what everyone else has already inlined (um, let's call it a verb related to opined, say, opined-inline-on-the-back-of-someone-else's-typing) about.

As long as you get one of the better colours. If you were replying to a serious email in fuschia or overpink, would anyone take you seriously, ever again? "Let's find out!", he exclaimed excitedly.

Combined with comment marking, I love it.
