Deskbar Shortcuts... an eventual convert.

I've been a full-URL typist for a long, long time.

As yesterday was Patch Tuesday, I've gotten a little annoyed at the number of times that I've had to type https://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms05-xxx.mspx into the browser to check up on security bulletin related facts.

I remembered hearing that MSN Desktop Search's Deskbar has this handy shortcut feature, but I never really paid attention to it.

One quick run through the web later, and I'm fiddling shortcuts to my heart's content.

I added my favourite to https://www.deskbarshortcuts.com (de-linked in random oh-a-broken-link spotting episode; domain has changed owners) - a simple but useful one:

@msrc,https://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/$w.mspx

So now I just have to type msrc ms05-019 or whatever bulletin I'm interested in into the Deskbar, and I'm there. Love it. I'm off to read more about it.
