Book excerpt: "Collaboration Meets Business Intelligence"

Chapter 2 of the new McGraw-Hill book, Building Integrated Business Intelligence Solutions with SQL Server 2008 R2 & Office 2010, is now available on TechNet. Written by Philo Janus and Stacia Misner, this book highlights the Microsoft business intelligence (BI) tools that are available today and provides comprehensive guidance for developing BI solutions.

Chapter 2, "Collaboration Meets Business Intelligence", presents an overview of the current Microsoft BI technologies. This chapter also shows both novices and knowledgeable BI practioners how SQL Server 2008 R2 “fits into the whole BI stack”, and then how SharePoint Server 2010 and its inherent Web services augment “the hard-structured data integration with the collaborative framework that SharePoint is known for”.
