LUA Lower Now

A new paper from the MSSC to help you LUA:  Applying the Principle of Least Privilege to User Accounts on Windows XP.

Blurbage: A defense-in-depth strategy, with overlapping layers of security, is the best way to counter malicious software threats, and the least-privileged user account (LUA) approach is an important part of that defensive strategy. The LUA approach ensures that users follow the principle of least privilege and always log on with limited user accounts. In addition, this strategy aims to limit the use of administrative credentials to administrators, and then only for administrative tasks.

I am looking for help in installing patch KB908523 to my Virtual PC Windows 2000.  I am running Mac OS 10.2.8.

This patch is at the top of the download list when Windows Updater runs automatically.  When I download it, install it, and reboot, the system goes into an repeating cycle of rebooting after the splash screen for Windows 2000 appears and the progress bar reaches
the end.  A black screen briefly appears (less than a second) with some message about a missing .dll, but it is too fast for me to identify which .dll is missing.  And then the boot process starts all over again.

I am sending this to you since for some reason, when I searched using the keyword (KB908523), this url ( came up.

Please reply to me at, even if you have no idea how to fix my problem.  That way, at least I know you read this.
