Security Watch: Where Is My PII?

Before you can effectively protect your Personally Identifiable Information, or PII, you first need to know where it's stored on your PC. And you just might be surprised to find it hiding in some corners you didn't know about.

In the April installment of Security Watch, Frank Simorjay shows you how to write scripts (using Windows PowerShell and findstr.exe) that will locate personal data stored on your computer.

And keep in mind that a piece of malware can use similar techniques to uncover PII on your system.  So if you must store this info, take precautions, such as using an encryption tool.

Cheers,
