Building a Green Datacenter

The upcoming October 2007 issue of TechNet Magazine begins what we hope will be an ongoing dialog on the topic of Green Computing. This is an exciting topic for us, given not only how much there is to cover, but how much potential this topic holds - to improve IT, save a great deal of money, and have a really substantial and lasting impact on the environment.

Dave Ohara kicks off the conversation in his article "Build a Green Datacenter". In it, Dave discusses the concepts that define the topic of Green computing, and also gives some specific, practical advice on how you can get started.

We know that many of our readers have already initiated steps to conserve energy for their clients and for their own businesses. As I mentioned, we look forward to this topic fueling a long-term and continuous conversation, so in that spirit, we’d love to hear details about your energy-saving solutions. Please add your comments here, or e-mail us at tnmag@microsoft.com.

We're already lining up additional Green Computing content for upcoming issues, but if there are specific topics or angles you'd like to see included, please let us know that as well!

Enjoy,

-Josh
