Offline reading in 11 languages

Over the past few years, many of you have requested an offline, digital version of TechNet Magazine to read in your travels. Quite some time ago, we began providing issues of TechNet Magazine in the HTML Help (.chm) file format. We're happy to announce that beginning today, HTML Help-editions of TechNet Magazine are now available in 11 languages (the same 11 languages you'll find on our Web site: English, Spanish, German, Italian, Korean, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Russian, French, and Brazilian Portuguese).

You can find these localized .CHM files, beginning with the November 2006 issue, at https://technetmagazine.com/chm/. English versions extend beyond that, to the very first issue of TechNet Magazine (January 2005).

Keep in mind that a recent security update (KB896358) has modified the behavior of files you download from the Internet (this applies specifically to .CHM files). This update is also incorporated into Windows Vista.

After saving the file locally (for example, to your Desktop), you'll need to "Unblock" the file. To do so, right-click the file, click Properties, and then on the General tab click Unblock.

Enjoy!
