Application virtualization with Microsoft SoftGrid

The concept of software virtualization has been around since the 1960s. However, it has taken the IT industry decades to begin to realize the potential of application virtualization.

In the August 2007 issue of TechNet Magazine, Ahmer Sabri and Kedar Shah give you and overview of the Microsoft SoftGrid application virtualization solution. With SoftGrid, available to Software Assurance licensees, applications are served from a datacenter or another network location and run locally on remote clients in a virtual environment. Ahmer and Kedar explain how SoftGrid works, how you can incorporate it into your current computing environment, and even how to set up the SoftGrid client application.
