If you are using the Azure Preview Portal you can now create your own logical server names for your SQL Azure Servers. Instead of a random string you can no use something that makes sense to you. Currently your server name can only contain lowercase letters, numbers, and ‘-‘, but can’t start or end with ‘-‘ or have more than 63 characters. It will also have to be globally unique.
