Tip of the Day: WS2012R2 has Shared Virtual Disks!

Today’s Tip…

In previous versions of Windows Server, if you had a Hyper-V server running virtualized cluster nodes, you had to use an iSCSI server for your shared storage. This usually meant either creating an additional VM to act as an iSCSI server or running iSCSI server on the physical host.

However, in Windows Server 2012 R2, we have a new choice…Shared Virtual Disks! It is now possible to simply create additional VHDx files and have both virtualized cluster nodes point directly to each one.
